The Maenad Story
In Greek mythology, Maenads were female warriors and counterparts of Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry. They were known for their incredible feats of strength, and often depicted as charging headlong into battle, engaging in dances and rites in the mountains, and leisurely enjoying the fruits of their victories.
To us at Florence Cellars, the Maenads embody all of the strong and selfless women in our lives. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without their sacrifices and eternal support. There aren’t enough ways to show our gratitude but we are so grateful and thankful to each and every one of you for supporting our mission and endeavors of making these wines for you. We raise our glasses to you and say, “Cheers!”
The story arc of our artwork by local artist, Alex Vincini depicts, “A day in the life of the Maenad.” Starting with the Riesling, all the way to the Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine is meant to be had in order of the story as well, recreating her journey from morning to night.
